Adam Levine: Blake Shelton Is a “Cutthroat Maniac” (VIDEO)
Blind Auditions have only just concluded on The Voice and already the coaches are lacing up their boxing gloves for the Battle Rounds. In fact, during a recent interview with ET’s Nancy O’Dell, reigning champ Adam Levine went so far as to say his entire strategy is to “destroy Blake Shelton,” whom he classifies as a “cutthroat maniac” when it comes to the show.
“Blake might seem laid back and mellow, but he’s not,” Adam says of his frenemy, adding, “he does it in his own laid back ‘Oh, I’m just from the country, oh shucks’ [way].”
Meanwhile, Adam says his persuasion style when it comes to swaying artists his way is based around committing and acting like they’re already on his team. Seems to work pretty well for him, as he managed to prevail in almost any four-chair-turn during the Blind Auditions.
Though it’s clear Adam and Blake have more than a little healthy competition going on, the two also seem like genuine friends. In fact, Adam bestowed upon his Okie pal a framed, 20-by-15-foot blowup of his People magazine “Sexiest Man Alive” cover shortly after the issue was released.
“I believe that he put it in his bedroom,” Adam claims, “over his bed.” We guess Blake’s wife, Miranda Lambert, has no issues with that decorating choice? We can’t say we blame her.
