The Voice’s Blake Shelton is known for his super sweet demeanor, Southern charm, and irresistible dimples on the show so it should be no surprise that he’s a mama’s boy.
The country singer, who is up for several CMA Awards this year (obviously), recently posted a photo of himself holding a book penned by his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. “So cool to be holding a book that my mom wrote!!! It comes out Tuesday the 29th.. Get it!!” he wrote.
The book, which is titled Time For Me To Come Home, is perfectly poised for release this time of year as it’s a heartwarming Christmas tale all about making it home to be with your loved ones for the holidays. As described by online retailer Amazon, “Filled with touching anecdotes inspired by the real holiday memories of Blake Shelton and Dorothy Shackelford, Time for Me to Come Home is a sweet and funny story that celebrates the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning of finding your way back home.”
The story chronicles the life of 35-year-old Heath Sawyer, a country artist who, in the middle of performing in front of a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden, decides the most important thing for him is to get home to his family for Christmas. The book is based on a song by the same name that was co-written by Blake and Dorothy. The lyrics that she has chosen as a sort of tagline are as follows:
“It’s funny how going back can get you back to where you belong / It’s the difference between just a melody and my favorite Christmas song.”
Doesn’t this just make you wanna curl up around a fire with a cup of cocoa while listening to Christmas carols?
