It’s been a good spring on The Voice for coach Blake Shelton, but then again, so have the past three seasons. But Season 4 stands out not only as the first time that a country artist has made it this far, but also the first time that a finale has been dominated by country stars.
”I’ve never read so much about The Voice this year as I have talking about how it’s dominated by country artists, but it is a, kind of, stand-out, interesting thing,” Blake tells MTV. “We just happened to have the right group of people for that to happen. In the years past, we had four pop singers left in the competition at this point and it didn’t read or hear so much about it.”
Blake does have a point. After three seasons of pop and R&B artists making it through to the finale, country music will finally have its day. And one of the reasons for this success centers around Blake’s excellent song choices.
His trick is picking older classics that many Americans might not be familiar with and giving them a fresh spin with his younger artists.
“I think that’s why I’ve had [two] contestants go this far because I at least know what songs are the right one for each particular artist,” Blake continued.
So with two contestants in the finale, who does Blake think will take home the crown?
”From Team Blake, Danielle Bradbery has been a frontrunner and The Swon Brothers have had their weeks too, but Danielle has probably been the most consistent in leading iTunes,” Blake said.
