The Voice coach Blake Shelton and his lovely lady, Miranda Lambert, as pretty much the king and queen (or should we say cowboy and cowgirl?) of country. And because of their unrelenting awesomeness, we’ve decided to take a trip down memory lane to highlight all the memorable moments of their relationship.
2005: Blake and Miranda first meet when they’re paired up to sing “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma” together during the CMT 100 Greatest Duets concert. At the time, Blake was married to Kaynette Williams. The Voice coach later said of the moment during Miranda’s Behind the Music special on VH1: “I was a married guy, you know, standing up there going, ‘Man, this shouldn’t be happening.’ Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her right there onstage.”
2006: Miranda and Blake start dating each other after Blake has officially divorced his first wife of two years, Kanyette Gern.
2008 - 2009 : Miranda sings backup vocals on Blake’s 2008 cover of Michael Bublé’s “Home” and the pair write the duet “Bare Skin Rug” for Blake’s studio album, Startin’ Fires released that same year. But that’s not all, Miranda has Blake help her write songs on her 2009 album, Revolution, and her (at the time) boyfriend even lends his vocals as a background singer on “Maintain the Pain.”
May 2010: Blake proposes to Miranda after doing the noble (and old fashion thing) of asking for father’s hand in marriage. Aww!
May 2011: Miranda and Blake get married at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas. Miranda wore her mother’s wedding dress and the pair exchanged vows in front of 550 family members and friends including Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson, and Voice coach Cee Lo Green!
February 2012: Blake asks wife Miranda and friend Kelly Clarkson to mentor his team on Season 2 of The Voice. How sweet!
November 2012: Blake’s co-stars Carson Daly and Cee Lo Green weigh in on whether or not the coupled seemed about ready to start having kids after over a year of marriage. However, Blake and Miranda dispel the idea that they were ready — and the twosome even took to Twitter to let it be known that there was no baby on the way.
“Don’t believe everything you read!” Miranda tweeted. “I’m having a big ‘randarita’ right now in honor of the baby we are not yet having! #Sorryfolksparksclosed.”
January 2013: Miranda makes it to the cover of Redbook Magazine where she gabs about loving her time apart from Blake. But before you think she doesn’t love her man, she goes on to say “When I go to The Voice set and everyone says, 'Blake's been talking about you so much,' it just makes me feel special, you know?” Aww, guess absence makes the heart grow fonder!
February 2013: Blake tweets a photo of his best gal on Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, most of the day was spent with Blake filming for Malibu Country and Miranda doing a concert in Dekalb, Illinois, but it was nice to see the big guy show his wife support!
February 2013: Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert claim the No. 7 spot of Men’s Health Magazine’s 20 Hot Celebrity Couples.
March 2013: Blake lets the media in on the details of his marriage with Miranda amid scandalous rumors of him cheating with a very young country pop star. The “Boys ‘Round Here” crooner told People Magazine that they don’t go more than two weeks without seeing each other and “I got a wife now. I say no to the things that might not matter as much.”
March 2013: While questioned on E!News on the prospect of having children with wife Miranda. His response? “I don’t see why not. I mean, gosh dang it, we’re married. Sooner or later we’re going to run into each other in the hallway and something’s going to be created I’m sure. We don’t have any plans on it. That’s kinda how we live our life. If it happens one day then it happens and we’re not trying to make it happen or avoid it.”
March 2013: Rumors that Blake and Miranda’s marriage is in trouble prompts the country duo to jump on Twitter with their own brand of retaliation. Instead of vehemently denying that nothing’s wrong, the couple actually mock the tabloids by saying they’re reading to see if they make it! How funny!
April 2013: The country couple win big at the Academy of Country Music awards, with Miranda winning three awards and her hubby snagging one. Congrats!
April 2013: In light of more rumors (which they brushed off on Twitter), Blake once again hits the Twittersphere to mock the media’s apparent lack of knowledge of his happy marriage to Miranda. That same month, Miranda decided to alert the media that when it comes to her marriage with Blake, “divorce is not an option.”
May 2013: Miranda and Blake face yet another onslaught of rumors (around their two-year anniversary no less) that include Blake cheating (as if!), Miranda pregnant, and a divorce underway — especially with Miranda going solo at the Kentucky Derby, where she performed. Blake, being the country rabble rouser that he is, spoke on the rumors on Extra and said he’d been “drinking a lot” and doesn’t know what the truth is! Miranda’s mom ultimately shot down the rumors saying that Blake and Miranda “are totally not expecting.”
May 2013: Blake and Miranda reunite on his hit show The Voice one more time for a duet to “Over You” in wake of the tornadoes that devastated Oklahoma. Blake also organizes a relief concert for Oklahoma victims where he, Miranda, and several other singers perform to raise funds.
October 2013: The Voice Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope weighs in on her former coach Blake, and says she thinks he and Miranda should have kids. “Blake would be a great dad,” she tells Life & Style of her former mentor.
November 2013: Miranda and hubby Blake perform together at the 47th Annual Country Music Awards, where Miranda wins Female Vocalist of the Year and hubby Blake wins Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for Based on a True Story!
