Blink-182 Announces New Album, Tom DeLonge Instagrams Awesome Throwback Photo
Chances are, if you were a teenager in the ‘90s, then you probably had Blink-182 on repeat — after you downloaded Enema of the State on Limewire, of course. Well, it looks like it’s time to dust off your old concert t-shirt and transfer those mp3 files onto your smartphone because Blink-182 is back.
The pop-punk band is working on a new album, guitarist Tom DeLonge has confirmed on Instagram. The guitarist/vocalist posted the following photo to his account July 14, with the caption: "Rehearsals start today... And yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”
Drummer Travis Barker joined in on Instagram, posting a photo of himself practicing at a drum set. The caption unraveled a line of hashtags, reading “#RehearsalLife #BLINK #EuropeanTour #NobodycaresGoharder."
Tom left the group in 2005, conflicted both about his creative freedom within the group and the toll touring was taking on his family life. He went on to form the band Angels & Airwaves, while Travis and guitarist Mark Hoppus collaborated on a new project, +44. However, in 2008, Tom reunited with his former estranged band members after Travis Barker’s near-fatal plane crash. It was then Tom, Travis, and Mark decided to officially reunite and work on new music.
This will be the band’s seventh studio album, and its first release since 2011’s Neighborhoods. Excuse us while we go dig our tattoo chokers out of our closets.
