And Hanson must have been in a good mood, because he was unusually forthcoming with Bones info this time around. First of all, there’s a little bit of leakage on character deaths: namely, the actors know when their characters are in danger of dying, so they don’t run around begging (or bribing, like with cupcakes) Hanson to reconsider. Naturally, serial killers get the squinterns nervous [RIP Mr. Nigel-Murray!], but heavy hitters like Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) tend to keep their cool.
On the other hand, though, one piece of assurance by Hanson — that he tries to kill off only the characters whose actors have picked up another series (hence Vincent Nigel-Murray’s [Ryan Cartwright] departure last season) — could backfire for Bones fans. Remember how David Boreanaz was angling for a role on Downton Abbey?
Anything new about a Booth-Brennan marriage? Unfortunately, not really, though Hanson did say we could expect some orderliness to the couple’s mutual life by Season 12. Awesome.
What about Baby Bones? Hanson’s adamant that the general ethos of the series isn’t going to change — Bones is not going to become Parenthood, and Brennan’s not going to be bouncing the baby on her hip while examining human remains. It’s more of a switcheroo between Brennan and Booth; where there once was sexual tension, now it’s more quotidian things like how they’ll be able to stand each other in the same house all the time. And this should be okay for viewers, because it’s not like we’ll run out of sexual tension in other areas any time soon.
