Time off? What do you mean time off? Brennan certainly isn’t going to let a little thing like pregnancy slow her down!
Now, no one among us Bones fans had any delusions that Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is using her almost supernatural smarts for evil... but it’s nice to see some recognition of the fact nonetheless! Screen Junkies today penned a tribute to all those TV scientists out there who eschewed the wacky hair and Frankenstein’s monsters in favor of an angel’s halo... and Temperance Brennan is tops on their list!
Flanked by two beaming, grinning skeletons, Brennan gets Screen Junkies’ first place (of six), perhaps because she’s one of those rare “gorgeous female leads … who grew up to be a genius[.]” Brennan’s impressive list of skills (incredible language-speakingness, martial artsness, and sheepskinness, among others) comes as a happy consequence of her otherwise dismal childhood — a set of circumstances which makes her all the more admirable, and which doubtless contributes to her number-one spot on SJ’s list.
As much as we love hearing about how comely or badass Brennan is, it does warm our hearts every so often to see her get some credit for being an inspiration — namely, to disadvantaged kids like herself. After all, the more orphans who follow B’s example and grow up into brain-flexing super-scientists, the better!
