Next Thusday's Bones doesn't start like other episodes. Instead of opening on a grossly disfigured body, "The Signs in the Silence" presents Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) with a very-much-alive potential murderess. Twist!

After a girl who can neither speak nor hear turns up bloody and wielding a knife (yikes!), Brennan and the rest of the Jeffersonian team attempt to identify her, working under the assumption that she's offed someone. As they dig in, they realize the confused, frightened girl is a victim of severe abuse.

Brennan understands, which leads the typically dispassionate doc to empathize with the Jane Doe to an unexpected degree. Will the team uncover the truth before the girl is convicted of a crime she may not have committed?

Tune in next Thursday, May 5, for all the answers!
