Bones Season 7 Spoilers: The Future of Booth and Brennan's Relationship

With Bones finally airing this month, we all can breathe a sigh of relief — but that doesn’t mean the spoilers will stop! NY Mag sat down with executive producer Hart Hanson to talk about the future of our favorite procedural. And we’re not just talking episode 3, either. No, this is some existentialist, big-picture stuff!

Reporter Willa Parskin gets right to the meat of what’s on everyone’s mind by asking Hanson about Booth (David Boreanaz), Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and the considerable sexual tension between the two. And when we say “sex,” we mean Parskin inquires about straight-up S-E-X.

This time, though, Hanson’s through beating around the bush, and he hits the issue head-on. Yes, “[p]eople want to see them in bed having sex.” But “this is a network show. What exactly do you think you’re gonna see?” Now that we think about it, that’s a good point — it’s not like Bones is showing Thursdays at 9:00 on Cinemax, after all.

As for Brennan’s (and Deschanel’s) pregnancy, Hanson maintains that it was a stroke of good luck for the show — but it at the same time, there was some conscious planning going on regarding Booth and Brennan. “I was certain, and Stephen [Nathan] certaily agreed with me, that it should be by the end of season six. It’s time.”  It, of course, is our beloved main characters finally getting together. So at least we know that our eventual happiness was guaranteed from day one!

So are Booth and Brennan in it for the long haul, then? Hanson’s tight-lipped as always, but he at least assures us that “there’s not gonna be any false barriers.” Ugh...this guy can never give us any security! We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for the happy couple.
