Bones' long-awaited eighth season is just around the corner, and it's time to check in with executive producer Hart Hanson for some details about what we can expect. First up, those tantalizing bonus episodes. What's the deal?! "It’s a pain in the ass because we really like the four episodes, but they are standalone; they don’t have an arc," Hart explains to Give Me My Remote. "So we have to put them in a place where that’s not disruptive."
Meanwhile, super-villain/nerd, Chris Pellant, will have an omniscient presence next season — even when he's not on screen. "It’s, I think, more organic than the Gormagon character," Hart says. "Even when he’s not in the show, he has an impact on our people…I think you’ll see in the first episode how that’s going to work."
Speaking of the first episode, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) will finally reunite after three months apart. As you might expect, Booth isn't thrilled with his baby mama, but Hart says it's more complicated than a simple case of right and wrong.
"I’m getting a lot of 'Booth would be mad' or 'Booth wouldn’t be mad,'" Hart explains, "but that’s way too simplistic. This is a couple who loves each other, and one of them did what she thought was right. It’s real. You just don’t pick up someone’s child and go away for three months and there not be [resolution]. But I hope people are [aware] — it’s Booth and Brennan. It’s not every other character. If we do it right — and you’ll tell us — we like it. We’re quite pleased."
Is there such a thing as doing it wrong on Bones? Nope! This season is sure to be fantastic and femurific, so make sure you tune in Monday, September 17th at 8PM on Fox.
