The Finder’s Geoff Stults (Walter) and Michael Clarke Duncan’s (Leo) good looks are just part of the reason why we can’t wait for more episodes of the Bones spin-off show. The other reason is their great chemistry. (Unlike poor Saffron Burrows who got the boot after fans were unable to understand her thick British accent.)
In a new interview with Access Hollywood, the two male leads talked about the new show, which will fill in the Bones timeslot when it goes on hiatus to accommodate Emily Deschanel’s (Brennan) pregnancy. First things first though, do not call Michael a “gentle giant.”
“I hate that moniker,” he said of the nickname that originated from his Oscar-nominated role in The Green Mile. “You know why? Because gentle giant sounds soft to me.” In the new Fox show, Michael is anything but, playing the large-and-in-charge bodyguard/legal advisor to Geoff’s Walter Sherman.
About his character, Michael said, “Leo’s been through some tough times, he lost his family and his wife in a terrible accident, he was over 400 pounds and [Walter] kind of got him back on the right track and now he feels indebted to [him].” But according to Geoff, Walter owes a lot to Leo, too. He explained, “I get us in trouble and he gets us out,” later joking that Leo does it because “he’s my best friend, in the show, not for real life, no, no, this is just acting.”
So how is it that they pull off such great chemistry on screen (and off)? Michael revealed that the two “worked together on a movie called D.E.B.S. years ago and we had so much fun on that. When I saw he was going to be the Finder, I hit the floor laughing because he is so much fun.”
We look forward to witnessing all that fun in a few months when The Finder begins its first season!
