Dr. Temperance Brennan may have spent most of Bones Season 7 just about ready to pop, but that actually caused very little problem for actress Emily Deschanel. She was pregnant in real life pretty much the entire time!
However, Emily did give birth to her son Henry slightly before Brennan’s memorable delivery scene was filmed, so the actress was required to strap on a prosthetic baby bump while filming Monday night's Season 7, Episode 7, “The Prisoner in the Pipe.”
Dr. Temperance Brennan spent most of Bones season seven ready to pop, which coincided perfectly with Emily Deschanel's real-life pregnancy! Of course, Emily gave birth to Baby Henry slightly before Brennan gave birth to Baby Bones, so she had to wear a prosthetic baby bump while filming Episode 7.
So what is it like to be fake-pregnant for an episode, anyway?
"It's very sweaty in there, so thank god it was just for one episode and we could move on," Emily tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I had to try on a bunch of bellies that were marked for different celebrities when they were pregnant in different movies. I know I tried on Nicole Kidman's, but I can't remember who we ended up with."
Emily has a bundle of joy both on and off screen, but she promises her parenting techniques differ from Brennan's. "I'll experience something in an episode, and I'm shocked because it's exactly what I'm going through," Emily says. "Brennan has a different take on things always. It's been fun to see how that unfolds."
Wait, so Emily isn't raising her son to be a world class forensic anthropologist just like her fictional alter-ego? Bummer.
