For anyone who watched Season 7, Episode 7, “The Prisoner in the Pipe,” the parallels between the birth of little Christine Angela Brennan and the coming of the infant Christ were blatantly obvious.

Bones paid homage to the blessed Christmas story in its tale of little Christine’s birth. Talk about away in a manger! Brennan (Emily Deschanel) literally gave birth to her firstborn in a stable, after there was no room for them in the local inn. Booth (David Boreanaz) delivered the baby — just as Joseph probably did in Bible times, and there was even a farm animal on hand to watch the blessed event take place.

No Angel on hand to announce the infant’s birth to the world, at least. Oh wait. Nevermind. We totally had that, too.

As Brennan herself admitted, the birth of the Savior tale has all the literary qualities of an excellently-crafted story, so it makes sense that Bones would want to adopt it for their own tale. But do you think that the show went too far in repurposing Christianity's most sacred of all stories for their own means?

We want to know what you think: Was this an acceptable homage, a tribute of honor, or a totally unforgivable gaffe?
