In the hours after Michael Clarke Duncan’s tragic passing on September 3, stars of Bones and its now-cancelled spinoff The Finder have taken to Twitter to express their heartbreak over the actor’s death.
Michael, the gentle giant best known as John Coffey in The Green Mile, co-starred on The Finder as Walter’s (Geoff Stults) trusty best friend, Leo Knox.
On September 3, Michael’s Finder co-star Mercedes Masohn (Isabelle) tweeted, “Today is a sad day Michael Clark Duncan passed away this morning. Known for his moving performance in The Green Mile RIP MCD You'll b missed”
Show creator Hart Hanson posted a photo of he and Michael together on the set of The Finder, with Hart (instead of Geoff Stults) riding in Walter’s motorcycle, and Michael sitting in the sidecar. “Like everyone who ever met him, I'm going to miss our great pal Michael Clarke Duncan. Such a sad sad day...” he tweeted.
Geoff, too, posted a photo of he and his co-star during a happy behind-the-scenes moment. “@officialMCD taken too soon buddy. Too soon. You will be missed.” he tweeted.
David Boreanaz (Booth), who appeared in Bones’ The Finder crossover episode and also directed an episode of the new TV show itself, wrote, “R.I.P. my friend MCD. I will miss you.”
TJ Thyne (Hodgins), who guest-starred in an episode of The Finder, tweeted, “MCD,your infectious laugh&larger then life love will be greatly missed.Your memory will live 4ever in your beyond moving moments on screen!:(”
John Francis Daley (Sweets), who also guest-starred in a Finder episode, wrote, “Michael Clarke Duncan was a truly great guy. Funny, friendly and talented. I'm going to miss him.”
Eugene Byrd (Dr. Clark Edison) tweeted, “RIP Michael Clarke Duncan. A gentle giant w/a great smile whom I had the pleasure to meet briefly. My thoughts are with his family. Sad day.”
Bones and The Finder crew Josh Levy tweeted, “RIP Michael Clarke Duncan, you'll be missed. Never stingy with a smile or a laugh. RIP”
The Finder writer Aaron Ginsberg tweeted, “I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of @OfficialMCD today. RIP, my friend.”
Our hearts go out to all Michael’s former friends and co-stars, but especially to his fiance, Omarosa Manigault, during this difficult time. Even for those of us who only ever knew him on a TV or movie screen, Michael’s warm smile, deep voice, and friendly, comforting presence will truly be missed.
