Amanda Bynes Likely to Prevail in Bong-Throwing Case

Great news for Amanda Bynes! The troubled actress, who recently completed a four-month intensive mental health treatment program, will likely be off the hook for allegedly throwing a bong out of her apartment window in New York City last May, according to TMZ.

For those of you just joining us, Amanda was charged with marijuana possession, tampering with evidence, and reckless endangerment last spring after cops responded to numerous complaints of a weed smell coming from Amanda’s Manhattan abode. The officers allege that the She’s The Man actress threw a bong out her window upon their arrival.

Amanda said it was a flower vase, not a bong, though we’re pretty sure it’s still not kosher to throw any glass object from the 36th floor in a busy city. However, it sounds like, regardless of what she did or did not throw out of her window, the former Nickelodeon star won’t face any penalties.

When the case goes before the court on January 10, Amanda will not enter a plea and it’s most likely her case will be formally dismissed so long as she stays out of trouble and continues her outpatient treatment for the next six months, according to the TMZ report.

Why is Amanda being let off the hook, you ask? Well, it all comes down to a lack of suitable evidence. TMZ says because cops supposedly did not collect the broken glass outside her apartment for days after the incident, the evidence may have been contaminated by the time it was picked up and so would likely be deemed inadmissible in court.

Or maybe we all collectively decided that she’s been through enough already? Regardless of the reason for the court essentially dropping the case, we’re glad things are looking up these days for Amanda!
