Bradley Cooper Will Star in The Elephant Man on Broadway

Is there anything Bradley Cooper can’t do? Not only has Brad proven that his acting chops are versatile — starring in funny roles like The Hangover and dramatic ones like Silver Linings Playbook — but now he’s taking his talent to Broadway to star in a revival of the 1977 play The Elephant Man.

And while this isn’t Brad’s first time playing the lead role of Joseph Merrick, a severely deformed, soulful figure, in Bernard Pomerance’s play (he played the part last year in the Williamstown Theatre Festival), it will be his first venture on Broadway. Could the 39-year-old actor be on his way to achieving the top prize of the entertainment world: the EGOT?

Well, Brad may be nominated for a 2014 Oscar for his work in American Hustle, but he’s been losing to Dallas Buyer’s Club’s Matthew McConaughey so far this awards season, so his Oscar dreams are dwindling fast. This is pretty much déjà vu, because Brad lost all the big awards for his work in Silver Linings Playbook as well last year. Will this talented actor’s first major award be a Tony?

This will be the first revival of The Elephant Man on Broadway since the 2002 production that starred Billy Crudup (who snagged a Tony nomination). We’ve got our fingers crossed for Brad, but he probably doesn’t need it since everything he touches seems to turn to gold.
