Based on her Twitter feed, you probably wouldn't guess that Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville is opposed to social media. Translation: The woman tweets a lot. However, she actually thinks that social media is ruining our lives!
Brandi's new book, Drinking & Dating: P.S. Social Media Is Ruining Romance, was released earlier this month. And as she tells Ad Week, she thinks social media is bad for more facets of life than just romance.
"It’s actually ruining all of our lives, to be honest," Brandi says. "People are forgetting how to be social, how to have conversations. And as far as romance goes, there’s just no more mystery."
"You can stalk somebody on Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and know what they’re doing 24/7," she adds. "If a guy says, 'Oh, sorry I didn’t call you back for two days, I was busy,' you can check his News Feed and see exactly what he was doing. If he had time to tweet or Instagram or update his Facebook, he had time to send you a text or call you — not that anyone ever calls anymore."
Y'know, Brandi makes some valid points there. Maybe there is such a thing as sharing too much. Then again, stalking people online is pretty fun, so we don't expect to stop doing it anytime soon.
Do you agree with Brandi about social media's negative effects?
