There's a new incentive to attend this year's Indianapolis 500, other than getting to watch fast cars and drink beer (which should already be enough incentive to go). Indeed, LeAnn Rimes will be performing at the famed race.

The event is part of the Verizon IndyCar Series and is always run on Memorial Day weekend. This year, the Indy 500 takes place on May 25, and LeAnn will take part in the pre-race festivities.

On May 8, the country star announced on Twitter that she'll be singing this year's national anthem. "Excited and honored to be performing the anthem at the Indy 500," LeAnn tweeted. Way to go, LeAnn!

This is just one of a number of exciting projects LeAnn is involved with. Her VH1 reality show with hubby Eddie Cibrian, entitled LeAnn & Eddie, premieres on Thursday, July 17, at 10:30 p.m. It is being produced by the production company that makes Duck Dynasty, so it definitely has a solid pedigree.

VH1 promises that the show will allow the twosome to "poke fun at what it’s like to be a high-profile couple with more than a little misinformation out there about them." Is it just us, or does this sound like a dig at Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville? At any rate, this show should be interesting!

Are you surprised that LeAnn is performing at this year's Indy 500?
