Heading in to Breaking Bad’s series finale, the biggest question on everyone’s mind had to be: Does Walter White die? And if he did die, how did it all to go down? Gunfire? Cancer? Some bad chicken from Los Pollos Hermanos? Or did he live, and ride off into that good night, perchance to cook again?

Well, the results are in, and we now know the fate of one Walter Hartwell White. Did he live? Did he die? The answer is...

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the Breaking Bad series finale.

Yes, of course he died. But in many ways, he died on his own terms. He took down the entire neo-Nazi syndicate, using the ricin to poison Lydia and then  taking down Jack's gang thanks to a very clever auto shotgun setup. He managed to let Jesse go, but he himself was hit.

He tried to get Jesse to kill him, but Jesse refused. So instead, Walter staggered out to the meth lab and died, surrounded by "his precious," as creator Vince Gilligan joked during the Talking Bad after show.

"He is at peace with himself," Vince explained.
