In southeastern Pennsylvania, an engagement photo shoot took an unexpected turn when the bride-to-be suddenly dropped everything to dive into the nearby creek to save a young boy from drowning.
KSHB Action News reports that Becki Salmon and her fiancé, Matt Werner, were getting their engagement photos taken when they noticed a little boy behind them had gone into a creek. The creek was running much higher and faster than usual due to recent rainfall, endangering the boy.
Wasting not a moment, Becki sprung into action, jumping into the water and heroically rescuing the boy from danger. Photographer Ken Berger documented the action, taking pictures of Becki’s heroism throughout the incident.
Salmon said, "His head went back, he was bobbing up and down, I knew that he was going under. If I had had my wedding dress on that day, that's what I would have been in that water."
After Becki dove in, the boy’s mother came running in behind. The mother expressed her profuse gratitude to the stranger, but she had no idea how lucky she really was, because Becki is a trained lifeguard and paramedic.
According to Becki, the training she’s received meant that she never thought twice about running to the boy’s rescue. Becki’s fiance Werner said, "She's been very humble through this process and she's not wanted to take the credit that she deserves, but she definitely deserves the recognition.”
