Brooke Burke-Charvet Shares Marriage Regret and “Heartbreaking Life Lesson”

Dancing With the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet appears to have it all — including property rights to the Fountain of Youth — but her life is not without regrets.

Brooke, 42, is now married to French singer/Baywatch actor David Charvet, and they have a daughter and a son together. But Brooke was first married to plastic surgeon Garth Fisher, and they had two daughters before divorcing in 2005.

"I regret having a marriage that didn't work, because divorce is 'forever' for children," Brooke told New You magazine (via People). "I regret that my two oldest daughters have to grow up knowing that sometimes a family falls apart. That's my heartbreaking life lesson. But I'm happy that they can see love now."

Divorce is rarely easy, especially for kids, but Brooke does seem to have a strong, loving relationship with David. They married in 2011 after a five-year engagement, and Brooke said she feels better now than she did in her 30s, in part because she knows herself better. “I feel more accomplished because I have a family and I'm very lucky to be in a loving marriage with a man that I'm in love with and he's in love with me and that's like amazing, so in that I find beauty."

That is pretty beautiful. It’s also impressive how Brooke balances her many hats (DWTS, ModernMom, Baboosh Baby, etc.) with raising her four kids. “They have different personalities — what works with one fails with another,” she told New You. “I've learned to speak a different language with each of my children."

Sounds like a smart plan. That’s the thing about life experience — you may pick up a few regrets, but you also tend to learn some valuable things along the way. Like how to never age. Hopefully Brooke can teach us that trick someday!
