Bruce Jenner Will Not Compete on Dancing With The Stars 2014 — UPDATE
UPDATE (3/4/2014 10:15 a.m. PST): We guess it was just too good to be true. The cast announcements for Dancing With the Stars Season 18 were announced this morning on Good Morning America, and while many current and former athletes made the cut, Bruce Jenner was not among the stars joining the program for 2014. Maybe next year, Brucie?
ORIGINAL STORY (3/3/2014 3:55 p.m. PST): Looks like Bruce Jenner is trading in his sneakers for dancing shoes. The former Olympic decathlete is set to twinkle his toes and trip the lights fantastic on Season 18 of Dancing With The Stars, according to a New York Daily News report.
For months, rumors of Bruce’s interest in following in the footsteps of his stepchildren, Rob and Kim Kardashian, have circulated. Now, on the eve of the 2014 cast announcements, it’s sounding more and more like a reality. The show insider indicates the decision to cast Bruce was kind of a no-brainer: “He's an athlete and he brings ratings.”
This will be the third time a star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians will grace the DWTS dance floor. Kim and partner Mark Ballas were the third couple eliminated in Season 7, while Rob and partner Cheryl Burke made it all the way to the finale in Season 13, falling just shy of the win.
Without having seen many of the Kardashian-Jenner patriarch’s moves, it’s hard to say whether he’ll go far like first runner-up Rob, or fall flat like 11th place finisher Kim. But considering his competitive nature, we’re sure this gold medal winner will pull out all the stops to get as close as he can to that mirror ball trophy.
Do you think Bruce has what it takes to win the mirror ball?
