Pretty Little Liars Burning Question: Do You Believe Shana’s Story?

In last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, we learned that Shana (Aerial Miranda) has a childhood connection to Alison (Sasha Pieterse) or so Shana claims. Do we believe Rosewood’s resident costume-seller? Or is this an elaborate lie designed to gain the Liars’ confidence? You tell us!

The Story

For those who need a quick refresher, Shana showed up in Season 4, Episode 16 (“Close Encounters”) with a message for the Liars from Ali. This threw the Liars (and us) for a bit of a loop given that Shana is Jenna’s BFF and/or girlfriend, and Jenna is Ali’s enemy. According to Shana, she has known Ali since they were both small, as Shana grew up next to Alison’s grandmother’s house. Furthermore, Shana claims she moved to Rosewood because Ali asked her for help finding the identity of her attempted murderer. Aria called B.S., but Emily was convinced after Shana correctly relayed the things Ali had said to Em after pulling her from that barn in Season 2. But what do you think?

Yes, It’s True

Shana’s evidence is pretty convincing. Only Emily and Alison were there that day at the barn. Not to mention, Alison hasn’t been very forthcoming about her seemingly infinite social web in the past. When CeCe moved to town, the Liars had never heard of her, despite the fact that CeCe knew all about them and was one of Ali’s closest confidantes before she disappeared (and, potentially, now).

We also can understand Emily’s argument that, if anyone could convince someone to up and move their life to help solve her almost-murder, it would be Ali. She has a way of making people love her unconditionally and desperately. In the past, she has used it as a tool and weapon. Could she be doing the same with Shana, though in an arguably more justifiable manner?

No, It’s a Ploy to Gain the Liars’ Trust

On the other hand, Shana and Jenna are really close. Shana claims she has gotten close to the girl Ali blinded because she is on Ali’s list of potential murderers. Is Shana really that good of an actor? She seems to genuinely care for Jenna. If Shana is faking her love for Jenna, then we actually feel really bad for the blind-again teen.

And what about Jason? If Shana is such good friends with Alison because she grew up next to her grandmother, then why doesn’t Jason also know Shana? In one of the Pretty Dirty Secrets webisodes leading up to the Season 3 Halloween special, we see Jason shopping in Halloween Spooktacular, aka the costume shop Shana has a job at. But he shows no sign of having recognized Shana. Unless he is in on Ali’s plan, this implies that Shana is lying about her supposed connection to the DiLaurentis family.

Do you think Shana is telling the truth? Sound off in the comments below!
