Once Upon a Time Burning Question: Why Did Hook’s Kiss Not Work on Emma?

Remember that time Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) tried to kiss Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) in the doorway to her New York City apartment after she was zapped with false memories of raising Henry (Jared Gilmore) without ever stepping foot in Storybrooke? Yeah, that didn’t go too smoothly. Given that failed attempt at True Love’s Kiss in Once Upon a Time’s Season 3 midseason finale, does that mean the two aren’t meant to be?

“Maybe,” Colin told TVLine about the chances of that being addressed in the future. “Hook has very much put his feelings on the table there for Emma, to sort of take and do with however she wants. So who knows? But I’m sure he probably would really like to have another kiss!”

Huzzah! At least it sounds like we might get some answers to this question. We really hope that the failed attempt doesn’t mean these two can't be soulmates because we like them together. Perhaps the kiss failed because Regina’s magic is just too darn strong. Or perhaps it has something to do about how Hook came to be in possession of that memory potion. Or the fact that Emma might not be in love with him yet. We definitely need to know that answer soon.

Why do you think Hook’s kiss didn’t help Emma regain her memories? Was it a failed attempt at a True Love’s Kiss? Hit the comments and speculate!

Once Upon a Time airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
