We’re still not sure if Silas will stay dead from the stabbing and draining he endured from his 2,000-year-old girlfriend in last week’s episode, but either way, he made a deal with Damon to return Bonnie back to the land of the living when he croaked. Did he keep his end of the bargain, even though his death didn’t work out exactly as he had planned? To be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised if he did. This is a vampire who doesn’t like to be called a vampire because of its barbaric and uncivilized connotations. We can imagine him going to lengths to keep his word intact. Especially if Jeremy took him up on that pinky promise.
There’s another uber powerful, 2,000-year-old witch in town, and this one is related to Bonnie. Does she bring Bon back from the dead? We doubt she’d do it out of a sense of familial loyalty or out of the kindness of her heart — though, Bonnie was the one who allowed Tessa to return to the mortal plane — but we could see Tessa casting a resurrection spell because she needs Bonnie for a plan of her own. Even though Silas is dead, that doesn’t mean Tessa has finished her revenge on him — or on Amara, who also slighted her back in the day. Whatever Phase 2 of her plan is, Bonnie might play a role in it.
Dr. Wes Maxfield conjures up some science
It hasn’t escaped our notice that alive Bonnie is hanging with Jesse on the Whitmore College campus. This makes us think the Augustine Society and/or Professor Wes Maxfield might be involved with the Bonnie resurrection. Not only do they seem to have extensive supernatural knowledge, but Dr. Wes is a brilliant young scientist who might be able to experiment his way to a cure for Bonnie’s little death problem, potentially using Jesse as his star lab rat (his position last time we saw the research assistant). Perhaps, Bonnie’s resurrection might even be involved in the implied alliance between Dr. Wes and Katherine. Last episode, Katherine approaching the doctor with a demand that he find a cure to her rapid aging. If Bonnie’s assistance is needed in the procedure/ritual, we can see Katherine making that happen pretty quick. What Katherine wants, Katherine gets.
