Pretty Little Liars Burning Question: What “Truth” Got Ali in Trouble?

On the Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Halloween episode, the Liars learned that Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) is definitely alive. Unsurprisingly, they wasted no time on pleasantries before diving into begging their not-so-dead BFF to tell them something, anything about the person she's afraid of.

Ali, who apparently hasn't lost her appetite for cryptic clues, just told Hanna to remember what she'd told her in the hospital. Of course, that sent Pretty Little Liars fans around the globe scrambling to rewatch the scene where Ali visited Hanna in the hospital in Season 1.

In that scene, Ali said several noteworthy things. She told Hanna that the four Liars remember more about the night she disappeared then they think they do, and then she mentioned that "telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time is how I ended up where I am."

This scene leaves us with several really huge questions. The biggest, in our eyes, is what "truth" landed Ali in hiding. We have a feeling that the answer to that is going to be the key to a lot of the remaining Pretty Little Liars mysteries.

What could it be? We have some theories.

That she was pregnant. OK. According to Mona, Ali's journal reveals that she wasn't actually pregnant after all. However, for a period of time she seemed to truly believe she was. We know she was scared of the man she thought was the baby daddy. Maybe he was so unhinged she had to go into hiding. Heck, this could also work the other way around — maybe he snapped when it turned out she wasn't pregnant.

The N.A.T. club's spying ways. We can't discount the fact that the N.A.T. club played a major role the night Ali disappeared. Maybe she ratted them out to someone who was actually on their side, and they decided to eliminate the problem before she could tell someone else. That could be enough to send Ali into hiding to protect her life.

"A"'s identity. Remember, Ali was messed with by someone calling themselves "A" long before the Liars were. Perhaps she did find out who it was, and then told someone else, bringing "A"'s wrath down on her head.

"A"'s existence. Or perhaps the problem was that she opened up to someone about her "A" problem and her attempt to track the culprit down — and it turned out the someone she told was "A" him/herself.

The truth about Jason's parentage. Hey, let's not discount the fact that Ali seemed to know about Jason's real dad. Maybe she spilled the beans and earned the ire of someone who wanted to keep that secret (maybe Spencer's dad himself? We still don't trust him...).

Something we don't know yet. Of course, Ali was basically the master of secret keeping, so it's very possible that we've yet to find out what the secret was, let alone who she told it to.

What truth do you think Ali told? Who did she tell it to? Sound off in the comments below!
