Pretty Little Liars Burning Question: Why Did “A” Blow Up Toby’s House?

"A"'s back in a big way. Pretty Little Liars's ultimate bad guy announced their presence in Season 5, Episode 5 (“Miss Me x 100”) by blowing up Toby (Keegan Allen) and Jenna's (Tammin Sursok) house. So much for subtlety.

The big question is: Why? Why Toby and Jenna's house? After all, as Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) points out in the promo for next week, "A" doesn't shoot and miss, so we have to believe there's a reason they targeted this abode. What was it?

We have six theories. Check them out, and then share your thoughts in the comments below!

1. "A" was targeting Toby. Let's not forget that Toby was once a member of the "A" team. It's perfectly plausible that "A" chose Toby's house to make a statement in part as revenge for Toby's big double cross. It scares the Liars and punishes someone who has betrayed "A" — sounds like killing two birds with one stone to us.

2. "A" was targeting Spencer (through Toby). The Hastings family is clearly at the center of something right now. Perhaps this was meant as a warning shot aimed at Spencer — dig too deep into what your family is hiding, and I'll hurt the man you love.

3. "A" was targeting Jenna. Toby isn't the only one connected to that house, and Jenna has been targeted before. Remember when she was almost drowned at Emily's surprise party? Maybe "A" wanted to finish the job now that Jenna is back in town and potentially making trouble.

4. It's a mislead to take the pressure off of Jenna. On the other hand, we're not entirely convinced that Jenna herself isn't "A", or closely connected to "A". Maybe her house was targeted so that the Liars wouldn't start suspecting her again.

5. It's covering evidence. There are still a lot of questions about what happens to Toby's mom at Radley, and now that we know the girl in Ali's grave was once a patient at Rosewood's one and only mental hospital, we're more convinced than ever that Marion Cavanaugh's fate is one of the keys to this whole show. Maybe "A" realized that there was some important evidence buried somewhere in that house that they needed to get rid of.

6. It was just a warning, no ulterior motivation. We find this hard to believe, but it's possible "A" just picked this house because all the Liars were gathered nearby. Still, this seems to require a little more forethought than that.

Why do you think "A" blew up Toby's house? Let us know in the comments below.
