Pretty Little Liars Burning Question: Will Aria Turn Her Back on the Liars?

Pretty soon, Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale) is going to have a choice to make on Pretty Little Liars: will she choose her friends or will she choose Ezra (Ian Harding)? There was a time when we wouldn’t have doubted Aria’s allegiance to the other Liars. Now, we’re not so sure. Will Aria turn her back on the Liars?

Ezra will be messing with her mind

We’ve already seen some of Ezra’s subtle attempts at manipulation in the last few episodes, but it seems that he will be stepping up his game in this week’s episode. According to E! Online, Ezra is “especially sneaky” in this week’s episode: “Not only will he continue to mess with Spencer's head, but he'll make sure that Aria is 100 percent head-over-heels in love with him in order to deter her from ever doubting his devotion to her.” Um, sounds like a definitive statement to us. Does this mean Aria chooses Ezra?

He confesses that he knows Ali’s alive

Ezra has been making a lot of talk about how, if he and Aria want to stay together, then they are going to have to be honest with one another about everything. The thing is: he seems to be applying that advice to himself, as well. Will he actually tell Aria the truth about his shady surveillance? Hard to say, but we do know he is confessing that he knows Alison is alive — at least that’s what it looks like in this promo for Tuesday’s episode. Is he telling Aria this as an honest attempt to come clean about his involvement in the “A” game? Or is it just another part of his manipulation? Or is that all in Spencer's imagination?

Aria chose Ezra over the Liars last episode

Last episode, Aria almost left Ezra’s cabin mid-romantic getaway because she couldn’t take lying to her friends anymore about their relationship. Then, Ezra pulled out some of his aforementioned manipulation, telling Aria that she has to start choosing Ezra over her friends, that he has to be the one she puts first. And Aria totally went with it. Is this just a temporary lapse in Aria’s prioritization of her friends, or is she officially leaving Team Liars to join Team Ezra?

Aria seems OK with Toby’s kidnapping of Ezra

On the other hand, in this behind-the-scenes promo of this week’s episode, we see a clip implying that Toby has knocked Ezra out and brought him to Aria. “We don’t have much time. I hit him hard, but I only hit him once,” Toby tells Aria, a car in the background. Aria looks upset, but not necessarily surprised. Has she accepted Ezra’s role in the “A” game? Or is there something else at work here?
