Cameron Diaz On Aging: “I Like The Way I Look Better Now Than When I Was 25″

Cameron Diaz may be in her 40s, but she’s not upset about it — although she still has to deal with people who think she should be. And now that she’s released The Body Book, which is all about encouraging women to be proud of their bodies (and how to treat them well), she’s ready to tell the world how confident she feels in her skin.

“I don’t want to look like I did when I was 25,” Cameron revealed to People. “I like the way that I look now better than when I was 25. I can’t help that other people may be uncomfortable with that, but it’s not my responsibility to make them feel okay with the fact that I’m getting older. I’m okay with it. I like it.”

And now that Cameron’s realized that aging is inevitable, she thinks all women should be able to do it without feeling ashamed that they’re getting older — or try to fight it by using products that claim to help them look younger for longer.

“There’s no such thing as anti-aging,” Cameron said. “There’s no such thing as turning back the hands of time, and it makes me crazy that we live in a society where that’s sold to women — that we’re supposed to believe that if we’re getting older, we’ve failed somehow, that we have failed by not staying young.”

And if that’s true, we all fail — because no one can truly avoid getting older (try as they might).

“I wish that women would let other women age gracefully and allow them to get older and know that as we get older, we become wiser,” Cameron added.

It’s okay, Cameron, we plan to age gracefully — how else are we ever supposed to claim any senior discounts?
