Cameron Diaz Admits She Was Unable to Defy Nature to Oprah

Cameron Diaz knows there’s no way to avoid getting older, and she thinks it’s crazy to try. In her upcoming special on OWN, Cameron Diaz & Sharon Stone: Aging Gracefully, Cameron dishes on what it’s like to grow older in a society where facing the inevitable can be seen as a failure.

“Women don’t allow other women to age gracefully,” Cameron tells Oprah, according to E! Online. “And we don’t give ourselves permission to age gracefully.”

Cameron has been outspoken recently about the aging process, especially since her latest project, The Body Book, was released. The 41-year-old is on a mission to encourage women to be proud of their bodies, even if they don’t look as young as they once did.

“It’s almost as if we have failed if we don’t remain 25 for the rest of our lives,” Cameron adds. “Like we are failures. It’s a personal failure. Like our fault that at 40 years old that I still don’t look like I’m 25. Oh, I’m sorry. I apologize. I wasn’t able to defy nature.”

Earlier this year, Cameron talked about how she’s grown to love the way she looks as she’s gotten older, and in the aging process, she’s only become more comfortable in her own skin.

“I like the way that I look now better than I did at 25,” Cameron has said. “I can’t help that other people may be uncomfortable with that, but it’s not my responsibility to make them feel okay with the fact that I’m getting older. I’m okay with it. I like it.”

Cameron Diaz & Sharon Stone: Aging Gracefully airs Sunday, March 16 at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
