Can the Fast & Furious Franchise Continue Without Paul Walker?

When Fast & Furious 7 speeds into theaters in 2015, fans can expect to see Paul Walker. The 40-year-old actor tragically died in a car accident last month, and although Universal shut down production, which was about halfway completed, the show must, and will, go on.

Paul’s death was a tragic shock to not only the production, but also the devoted fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, many of whom are questioning whether the franchise should continue without its charismatic star. Will Paul’s character, Brian O’Connor, also meet his end in Fast & Furious 7? Could his scenes be saved by filming additional footage with a double? While these questions remain unanswered, Wetpaint Entertainment teamed up with Viggle to see if fans thought the franchise could survive without its lead — and the reaction was mixed.

The majority of Viggle LIVE! users — 53 percent — think the Fast franchise can’t continue without Paul, while 47 percent of Viggle users think it should continue and that it would honor Paul’s memory in doing so.

Fast & Furious 7 is definitely a-go, but the fate of the franchise past that is still in question. While general sentiment seems to be mixed, it will most likely be up to the studio and the actors, including Paul’s close friend and co-star Vin Diesel, to decide whether Dom and his merry band of misfits will ride again.

We have to admit: seeing a Fast film without Paul behind the wheel isn’t going to be easy.
