Chris Brown Dropped by Canadian Music Festival

2013 is not Chris Brown’s year. In the past several months, CB’s been in and out of court, in and out of hospitals, and now in and out of festivals. The R&B singer was just dropped as the main act by the Energy Rush festival of Canada, which booted the headliner from four shows in Halifax, Toronto, Saint John, and Winnipeg.

"After ongoing conversation and consultation with this year's headline act Chris Brown, and in light of the performer's recent personal and health-related issues, a decision has been made to cancel all four scheduled performances," said Stephen Tobin, owner of Drop Entertainment Group, in a Monday, August 19, statement.

By dropping the headliner, the entire festival has been postponed until next year. Ticket refunds will begin Thursday, August 22.

Not that many Canadians are saddened by the news. Chris doesn’t exactly have the best rep up north where citizens of the city of Alderney Landing called for a boycott of the artist who, among other notorious actions, was convicted of assaulting fellow pop star Rihanna in 2009.

In fact, when CB was revealed as the headline act for Energy Rush, a handful of major sponsors pulled their support. And yet the festival maintains “the cancellation has nothing to do with the controversy,” reports CBC.

Whatever the reason for the drop, you know Chris blames Canada.
