Selena Gomez Cancels Australian Tour Shortly After Jingle Ball Snafu
Sorry Aussies, but it you were ready to come and get it (it being Selena Gomez), you’re going to be waiting a while. The singer announced December 19 that she would be canceling her performance in Oz in order to have some much needed Selena time.
Though she hates to disappoint fans, Selena explains, "it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."
The announcement comes just a couple weeks after a Jingle Ball performance we’re sure SelGo wasn’t too happy about. While performing her hit song, "Come & Get It," the former Disney star suffered a series of audio malfunctions that made it clear she was using a backing vocal track. Unfortunately, her malfunctioning mic cut back in just long enough to broadcast her frustrated F bomb. After one more song (though she’d promised two), she left the stage.
While it’s easy to assume the incident is related to the tour cancelation, sources close to Selena want to make it clear this is all a case of a hardworking gal taking a long overdue vacay. "She has been working nonstop for six years," the insider tells Us Weekly. "It was a very hard decision because she hates disappointing fans but she needs to focus on her for a bit. She wants to stay healthy."
