American Idol Cancels Quarter of Scheduled Summer Tour Dates
The American Idol summer tour isn't heating up, it's cooling down — and doing so nearly a month before it had planned to begin.
The tour, which was originally planning to start on June 29, will now kick off on July 19. It appears the rather uneventful season is leaking into the summer tour.
On Friday, 19 Entertainment, the company that produces American Idol with Fox and FremantleMedia, announced that nine dates of the North American tour have been cancelled and one has been rescheduled. "Due to production scheduling changes, the American Idol 2013 Tour will now begin on July 19 and go through the summer until August 31," a spokesperson for the tour said. "The Idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country."
The canceled tour dates make up a quarter of the tour's initial 40-show run. Idols slated to perform on the tour include season 12 winner Candice Glover, runner-up Kree Harrison, the rest of the Top 10, and Aubrey Cleland, who America voted to be able to join the group.
