Taylor Swift Cancels Thailand Concert Amid Political Unrest
Bad news, Thailand Taylor Swift fans: Now that the country has been declared to be in a state of emergency (and the military has come into rule), TSwift has officially canceled her sold out Bangkok Red Tour stop set for Monday, June 9.
“This has been a difficult decision for all parties,” the announcement on TaylorSwift.comsays. “Taylor, AEG, BEC Tero and 13 Management all express regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand.”
This is a huge bummer for the Thai fans who were excited to see the 24-year-old singer, who is currently about to take her wildly successful Red Tour to Asia. Taylor has also scheduled shows in China, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore through the beginning of June. Fortunately, everyone can get a refund — although that obviously can’t replace seeing the concert they’ve been looking forward to.
Not that we fault Taylor for canceling. Due to the recent political unrest in Thailand, it could be a dangerous situation for her to visit Bangkok, and Taylor’s pretty upset her show is no longer happening. “I’m sending my love to the fans in Thailand,” Taylor tweeted early Tuesday morning. “I’m so sad about the concert being canceled.”
