It’s no secret that Tori Spelling and her mother Candy have had a tumultuous relationship in the past. But in recent years, the two seemed to back on track — and just in time. Tori’s had a pretty rough go of it recently, following husband Dean McDermott’s public infidelity and her troubling, secret hospitalization. Candy is now speaking out about the state of her daughter’s health.
“It was very difficult,” Candy tells Entertainment Tonight about seeing Tori struggling. “When you see your child sick, you see her in the hospital with tubes coming out of her arms. That’s scary for any parent to see.”
But what was the real reason behind the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star checking in for treatment? “She was totally dehydrated, she wasn’t eating — she’s very thin,” Candy reveals. “It’s just that Tori doesn’t eat when she’s stressed.”
Beyond being underweight, the reality star — who’s been the focus of a lot of media attention recently due to her extremely open Lifetime show, True Tori — has been suffering from some pretty brutal migraines.
Candy says she was at least a little relieved to have her daughter showing her so much love when she visited her in the hospital. “I am always concerned about her,” she explains, adding “There I was feeding her pudding one night and she was like ‘mommy, I’m so glad you’re here.’ I love when she calls me ‘mommy’ because it’s always a good thing.”
The widow of iconic TV producer Aaron Spelling, Candy admits that she has watched her daughter’s reality show, and she does worry about how the marital struggles between Tori and Dean might be affecting her grandchildren.
“I think that it’s very hard for them to have to deal with this,” Candy says. “It’s there in front of their face and I’m sure it’s a hard time on Tori.”
At least she’s got her mother by her side to deal with it all! Get well soon, Tori!
