Can’t Buy Me Love Star Amanda Peterson Dies — Hollywood Reacts
‘80s teen star Amanda Peterson — best known for Can’t Buy Me Love — is dead at age 43. According to the Associated Press, the actress was found dead on July 5 in her home in Greeley, Colorado.
In Can’t Buy Me Love, Amanda played Cindy, the cheerleader high-schooler Ronald (Patrick Dempsey) hired to be his girlfriend for a month.
She also had a lead role in the film Explorers opposite Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix. On TV, she starred in the highly-rated miniseries A Year in the Life and in the short-lived NBC drama Boone.
Amanda retired from acting in 1994. She was twice married and had two children with her second husband.
