Details on Carly Waddell’s Replacement Engagement Ring, Wedding Band (PHOTOS)
The Bachelor in Paradise couple’s Mexico-filmed nuptials featured a stunning backdrop, show-stopping designer gown, lots of tears, and some sparkling Neil Lane rings.
Or, as some eagle-eyed viewers noticed, three new Neil Lane rings!
During the Chris Harrison-officiated ceremony, Carly and Evan exchanged wedding bands from the go-to franchise jeweler.
We’ll get to those in a minute, but we were most interested to learn the groom upgraded his bride’s engagement ring from last summer in celebration of the big day.
As fans remember from the Season 3 finale proposal, the single dad popped the question with a light pink, pear-shaped diamond, surrounded by 157 round diamonds.
The erectile dysfunction specialist chose the 1.5 carat sparkler at the time because he said it captured his lady’s “quirky personality.”
But apparently it was a little too quirky.
Though Neil Lane tells People the Nashville-based gal “absolutely loved” the ring her now-husband originally proposed with, she had always wanted a cushion-cut diamond.
So when it came time for the pair to shop for wedding bands, the jeweler helped them to pick out a replacement ring to go along with them!
“When she saw this ring in the case she kept palpitating and she was overwhelmed. She kept looking at it,” he recalls.
He continues, “She was distracted and Evan was like, ‘Hey babe, what’s up?’ And she told him she always imagined a cushion-cut diamond. But she didn’t want him to feel hurt.”
This was a first for Neil, who has been designing for the show for over a decade, but he was willing to help out.
“Carly jumped up and hugged me and Evan was beside himself. So he got down on his knees and re-proposed with that ring,” he reveals.
“It was so special. There was lots of tears. They were crying … my staff was crying!”
“Thank you so much @neillanejewelry for my engagement ring and our wedding rings!” Carly captioned a video of the moment ahead of the wedding special last night.
“We got to spend a few hours with Neil and his amazing team looking though the most stunning rings I’ve EVER seen! Can’t wait for y’all to watch us exchange these rings tonight.”
So what does the new diamond look like?
It is, of course, cushion-cut, and set in platinum — surrounded by a diamond halo and 50 smaller round diamonds on the band.
Oh, and it comes in at a whopping 2 carats! Talk about an upgrade, right?
The wedding bands, on the other hand, were a little more creative and unexpected.
She opted for a rose gold eternity band, embedded with 36 round diamonds.
“Carly’s so vivacious and bubbly and she wanted a ring that was a little different. We came up with this design with a little movement,” Neil says.
He adds, “She loved the idea of going fashion-forward and mixing the platinum engagement ring with the rose gold band.”
Meanwhile, her hubby chose a “thematic” platinum band with “tire track” grooves, which he says looks “strong on Evan’s finger.”
“The lines in the ring don’t stop. It’s a sign that they will work through whatever happens in their relationship,” he reasons.
And if you’re still wondering about the first ring, it’s a thing of the past.
“It went to Neil heaven,” he shares, adding that it’s in the archives.
