Carmon Cambrice: Mama Joyce’s Accusations Hurt My Relationship With Todd Tucker

Imagine being like a daughter to someone for more than two decades, and then one day, she decides she will no longer speak to you. Sounds pretty terrible, right? That’s what Kandi Burruss’s longtime BFF Carmon Cambrice went through this season on Real Housewives of Atlanta with Mama Joyce, and apparently things haven’t really improved since.

Carmon spoke with S2S Magazine and revealed she and her friend’s mother are no longer on speaking terms. “We don’t talk, so I don’t know where her feelings are at this point,” she says. “She was like a mother to me. I spent every summer at her house. She used to introduce me as her daughter, but now she doesn’t talk to me.”

If you thought Carmon acting as maid of honor at Kandi’s April 4 nuptials to Todd Tucker would address Joyce’s distrust toward her daughter’s bestie, you’re mistaken. If you remember, the outspoken mama fired off accusations that Carmon and Todd were carrying on a secret affair. But you may not believe the origin of that rumor…

“It started I think about two Thanksgivings ago,” Carmon says. “I don’t know where the story comes from or how it developed or who the people in the street are, but Mama Joyce came up with a story that some people said that I had ate some food off of Todd’s plate. It developed from eating something off his plate. From there, it just grew legs and the story continued to grow. It was disappointing.”

Though Kandi has always been pretty cool about brushing off gossip, Carmon does admit she worried her Housewife pal might eventually believe the rumors.

“You think about it. As women, you think, ‘I don’t know if she’s going to believe this, if she’s going to want me around anymore,’” she admits. “We had a conversation about it, and she didn’t believe it and I never would have believed anything like that about her.”

Kandi never did waver and the two are still in solid best friends territory. The same can’t be said, however, for Carmon and Todd’s friendship.

“It definitely changed the dynamics of me and Todd’s relationship,” she says. “We’re in the house and we’re working and we’re doing something…if [Kandi] walked out the room, I found myself always leaving as well, if he was in the room. If we were out and I was standing next to him, it’s like, ‘OK. Let me move.’”

Yikes! She can’t even be comfortably alone in a room with him? That’s just so sad.

Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding premieres Sunday, June 1 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
