Carrie Underwood’s “Look at Me” Hits Charts After Bride’s Viral Video
Weddings used to be fairly private occasions, only shared with family and friends, but these days, everything (cool!) seems to go viral. Such is the case with Arianna Pflederer’s performance of Carrie Underwood’s “Look at Me” on her wedding day. The bride sang an emotional rendition of the song before walking down the aisle back in July 2013, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Fortunately for Carrie, the song — which The Hollywood Reporter notes hadn’t even been released as a single off the 2009 album Play On— now sits at an impressive No. 22 on the Billboard Country Digital Songs chart after the video went viral earlier this month. And, as of February 11, Popdust reports Arianna’s clip has even pushed the song to No. 11 on the iTunes Country Singles chart. Not bad for a number released five years ago!
The emotional wedding video has garnered about 1.4 million views, as of publishing. According to Taste of Country, the bride tweaked some of the lyrics to fit her special occasion. She sang most of it while at the back of the church, but then finished the song as she walked up to meet her groom, Ryan. Needless to say, he was fighting back tears.
According to a YouTube Q&A by the newlyweds, Arianna’s family makes it a tradition to have the bride sing a song on her big day. Her mother did the same thing at her own wedding, singing a song to Arianna’s father as she walked down the aisle. The bride and groom had gotten married later in the day and had already seen one another, so she explained that she wanted something to make that moment special.
Mission accomplished! And Carrie Underwood thanks you!
