It may be Sandra Oh's (Cristina Yang) last season on Grey's Anatomy — and that of newcomers Gaius Charles (Shane Ross) and Tessa Ferrer (Leah Murphy), too — but Season 10 marks the swan song for two talents behind the scenes, too. Married executive producers and co-showrunners Tony Phelan and Joan Rater are leaving the production for new adventures at CBS.
To toast the end of Season 10 and to bid farewell to everyone leaving, Tony and Joan recently hosted a carnival at Prospect Studios, where Grey's Anatomy is filmed!
As you can see here, Tony Phelan dunked Sandra! But she had her chance to dunk him, too, as you'll see in the rest of the photos in this gallery.
"Yes, I had to move up really close to hit the target," she wrote with a photo of her taking aim. "Like, reeeeaally close."
Jessica Capshaw also took to the Twittersphere to express her gratitude to the departing showrunners. "Thank you, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, for a real live carnival at work!" Jessica wrote. "So much fun and so generous!"
For his part, Tony is directing the finale — Season 10, Episode 24: "Fear (of the Unknown)" — which airs May 15.
"Walking the stages and prepping the last four shooting days of 1024!" he tweeted on April 20 (continued here). "Every day thus far has been emotional, not only for the characters… but for those of us moving on and those we leave behind at our beloved Grey Sloan Memorial. Can't wait for you all to see the fantastic work!"
We can't wait either, dude, even though it's sad to think of all the talent finishing their Grey's work this week!
