Glee Cast Performs Beyoncé — But They’re Trying to Sing Off-Key!

It’s a given that everyone starring on Glee is extraordinarily talented. We’re so use to hearing them hit all the right notes, what happens when cast members purposefully sing off key? Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones) and gang decided to answer that very question and the result is, um, not exactly pleasant.

Sitting in the McKinley High choir room, Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams) starts off the experiment with lyrics from Beyoncé’s hit “If I Were A Boy.” Next up, Alex Newell (Unique) gives the Bey cover his best worst shot.

Jacob Artist (Jake Puckerman) struggles the hardest to sound bad (#talentedproblems) and finally, rounding off the pitchy quartet is Becca Tobin (Kitty). Amber herself doesn’t appear in the video but that didn’t stop her from sharing the clip with her fans via Instagram. Thanks?

Although we can’t say we’re exactly fond of this particular Glee cover, it’s always great to see castmates goofing off between takes. With the Season 5 premiere scheduled for tonight (September 26) we’ll take whatever bit of Glee they’ll give us. Let’s just hope “bad covers” doesn’t end up being one of Mr. Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) assignments. That might be one episode we’d actually have to put on mute.
