The Vampire Diaries Cast: Setting the Record Straight on the Craziest Rumors

The lives of the characters on The Vampire Diaries can get pretty crazy. Sometimes, those dramatic plot twists spill over into real-life in the form of crazy rumors about the TVD cast. Here is a roundup of the most ludicrous stories we have heard about the TVDers.

Candice was pregnant.

Over the summer, word spread that newly-engaged Candice Accola (Caroline) was pregnant. This fan site dedicated to The Originals has a pretty good breakdown of the trail of miscommunication that seemed to start with musings that Candice had a baby bump and Candice’s mention of the Klayley pregnancy on The Originals and ended with Twitter convinced when TVD actress Arielle Kebbel (Lexi) congratulated Candice on something (but it was probably her engagement). However it started, Candice ended the speculation with a Twitter pic of herself enjoying a beverage of the alcoholic variety. We appreciate her subtly.

Phoebe Tonkin broke up Paul and Torrey

Another crazy rumor making the rounds on the interweb this summer started when Paul Wesley and Torrey DeVitto announced their divorce. The couple decided to end their two-year marriage in August. Though the actors insist the split was amicable, rumors surfaced that Paul had been cheating on Torrey for months with TVD/The Originals actress Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley). We find this one particularly sad, given that Paul and Torrey worked so hard to keep their relationship private. Sure, Hayley is a polarizing character in the TVD fandom, but Phoebe shouldn’t be blamed for her character’s indiscretions.

Nina hates Miley Cyrus

This is one of our favorite crazy rumors because it’s just so silly. Last summer, Nina Dobrev (Elena) tried to get quippy in a magazine, telling an interviewer, “Eventually I am going to marry and have a family, but not anytime soon. I’m not going to pull a Miley.” Well, you can imagine how the internet up and ran with that line, fueling rumors of a feud between the two starlets. This rumor didn’t last for long, however. Nina nipped it in the bud, tweeting, “Note to self, light hearted comments don't always translate in magazine articles. Big fan of @Mileycyrus do you need a flower girl? :)” We love Nina!
