Fifty Shades of Grey Casting: Is This Charlie Hunnam’s Replacement?
Charlie Hunnam might have taken his name out of the hat for the role of Christian Grey, but there are plenty of dudes waiting in the wings to take his place. In fact, if the team behind the Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation want to start production tomorrow, there’s a Broadway star who’s totally stoked on the idea of taking up the whips and chains of this grueling movie role: The Book of Mormon’s Josh Gad. (Wait! Where are you going?)
On The Wrap’s new “Drinking With the Stars” video series, the actor who portrayed Elder Cunningham on Broadway says he’s “all in” for the role. Yeah, we know what you’re thinking: He doesn’t exactly live up to the physical description in the book. But what Josh lacks in classically good looks he more than makes up for with enthusiasm (and a great sense of humor)!
Plus, Josh assures us he looks really good in black leather. “I kind of resemble an orca... but, I think, in a good way.” Okay, that visual is sort of spoiling our fun. There’s no way, Josh. Sorry ‘bout it!
Thankfully, Josh isn’t too deluded about his chances. “I don’t think it’s in the cards.”
