You guys, the worst has happened: Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) only has 24 hours to live!
In the highly-anticipated season premiere we learned that Beckett (Stana Katic) accepted her man’s proposal and traveled to D.C. to take that job with the FBI. But when Castle ventured to the nation’s capital to surprise his lady love and ended up getting involved in a case, something went terribly wrong.
Turns out the mystery writer was exposed to a deadly chemical weapon after he was forced into a suspect’s car. The suspect died behind the wheel, and Castle soon found out that his exposure to this chemical weapon meant he only had a day to live. Say what?!
But before you erect shrines in Castle’s honor, let’s take a second to evaluate if Castle’s really destined to meet his maker so soon. Thankfully, it’s looking like a hard no.
For starters, the show is called Castle — we doubt the writers would go ahead and kill the titular character so soon into the sixth season.
Creator Andrew Marlowe also told Entertainment Weekly about how the rest of the season will balance Beckett in D.C. and Beckett’s relationship with Castle, basically implying that Castle would live beyond Episode 2.
“It’s a lot of fun. We find new interesting and challenging ways to play with it. It’s a lot of fun. It gives us back that sense of yearning and trying to make stuff work. They have to ask, ‘How do we arrange our futures so that everything aligns?’” Andrew dishes.
Do you think that Castle will still be alive and kicking at the end of next week’s episode, or do you think the chemical weapon will really kill him?
Castle Season 6, Episode 2, “Dreamworld” airs on September 30 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
