Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) is officially a part of the FBI now, and with a new job in the nation’s capitol comes a new mentor — Rachel McCord, played by House’s Lisa Edelstein. McCord made her debut in Monday night’s Season 6 premiere of Castle, and she quickly hit it off with Beckett.

Lisa spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her character, first noting that McCord represents someone "Beckett would like to emulate.”

Calling her on-screen counterpart a “mentor for Beckett” Lisa also acknowledged that the two characters “have a mutual respect for each other. They like each other a lot. McCord is really there to push Beckett to be better.”

After pretty much outgrowing the 12th precinct, we’d tend to agree with Lisa that Beckett is ready for bigger and better things.

However, we also have a hunch that Beckett’s time in D.C.won’t span the entirety of Season 6, which likely means she’ll cut ties with the FBI at one point. Further evidence of this stems from the fact that Lisa’s Castle arc is only set to span three episodes.

With such a brief period of time on a crime-driven show, many fans have been wondering if Lisa’s short stint means that McCord dies. The actress addressed this speculation, revealing,

“McCord is not dead at the end, so on that note she's still alive. She still exists in that world.”

What do make of McCord’s three-episode arc? Tell us your thoughts below!

Castle airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
