For four seasons of Castle, Detective Kate Beckett has been hunting down the man responsible for her mother’s murder. Finally, at the end of Season 4, it’s revealed that the brains behind the operation is none other than the evil Senator William H. Bracken.

Actor Jack Coleman, who plays the high-powered villain, dishes to Zap2It on what we can expect to see from the congressman on Castle Season 5, Episode 13: “Recoil.”

Jack discusses the return of the “evil senator” through the murder of a young girl that seems to point directly to his character. Obviously, this gives Beckett the opportunity of a lifetime as she's finally got something to pin to the politician, but “it turns out to be more complicated than she thought.”

Jack goes on to say that “the ground is always shifting” under Beckett, and under his character as well. “You’re never quite sure who’s in control of the story here.”

Beckett will have to come to terms with what she wants to do and what she should do, and will be “wrestling her demons,” says Coleman.  Poor Becks.

Jack reports that what has happened and what will happen will not be as it appears, and we’ll be in “very different territory.”  And while Bracken may be completely unapologetic for his “Machiavellian” mentality, Jack says there will be “a couple glances here and there of an actual human being.” If you say so...

According to Jack, “every bad guy has his justifications,” which he follows with “and this guy has more than most.” Senator Bracken has “done great things for many people, that totally justifies the murders. Beckett's mom is only one of many.” Damn.
