Raise your hand if you've watched the Castle Season 4 finale promo so many times you've lost count. We don't blame you — it's chock-full of heart-stopping scenes and Caskett goodness.
Castle and Beckett hold hands! Castle declares his love! There's a massive explosion! Beckett almost falls off a roof!
But none of that compares to the final clip when Beckett — hair and clothes sopping wet — busts through Castle's threshold and goes in for what looks like a kiss.
Naturally, we're dying to know what happens next, but we're also curious about what happens in the moments leading up to Beckett's surprise visit. Why is she dripping wet?
Spoiler smartass Michael Ausiello to the rescue!
"That’s what happens when you sit on a swing all alone in the middle of a torrential downpour sans umbrella," he teases.
Dur! Why didn't we think of that?!
But in all seriousness, it makes perfect sense. Think back to the Season 4 premiere, "Rise," when Castle held a book signing for Heat Rises. The mystery writer hadn't heard from Beckett since the shooting, so you can imagine his surprise when she turned up unexpectedly.
After informing Castle that she and Josh had called it quits, she took off to a nearby playground. The estranged pair sat on the swings and had their first real conversation for the first time in months.
"I know I'm not going to be able to be the kind of person that I want to be, I know I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna to be able to have the kind of relationship I want until that wall comes down. And it's not going to happen until I put this thing to rest," she says, referring to her mother's unsolved murder.
"Then I suppose we'll just have to find these guys and take them down," Castle responds.
Returning to the scene of the crime in the Season 4 finale? That's what we call "full circle."
