Alexis holds on tight to Richard and Martha as Kate Beckett is whisked away to surgery on a stretcher.
Dying (pun not intended) for Castle’s season premiere? We got our hands on the first Season 4 episode, “Rise" a little early and we’re overjoyed to spill all the goods about September 19’s epic eppy. Well, not all of them, because well, that’s just no fun!
Let’s start by saying “Rise” definitely rose to the occasion. All bets are off this episode. There’s blood! There’s guns! There’s family drama! And there’s one big, bad boss lady!
Here’s the breakdown. Warning: MEGA SPOILERS AHEAD!
1. Intense, almost vomit-inducing hospital scenes? Check.
You’ve been warned. (Seriously. We made the mistake of watching this ep while stuffing our faces with McChicken. Not a good call.)
2. After all the blood and guts, somebody survives ...
... but not everybody recovers.
3. We’re introduced to one new character, and another oldie-but-goodie shows up in the nick of time.
The newbie is obviously Victoria “Iron Gates,” and the other is a strong man from Beckett’s past.
4. There’s more than one jaw-dropping, gasp-worthy moment.
And tissues? Totes necessary, especially in the first half.
The new captain looks settled in her new office already. Will she be able to fill Montgomery's shoes?
5. Remember when we told you the new boss lady wasn’t going to take nicely to Castle? Understatement.
And it’s not just Castle she’s not gellin’ with, either.
6. Everybody’s uber-obsessed with Beckett’s case and finding out who the sniper was who shot her.
For awhile, things look pretty bleak and the new captain tries to close the book on the case. But what the captain doesn’t know, won’t hurt her ...
7. Nobody is safe.
Two characters end up in the line of fire, more than once. That being said, Castle's brood isn't exactly thrilled about his dangerous choice of “profession.”
8. And we all know what you really care about is what’s up on the Castle and Beckett relationship front ...
Three words: roller coaster ride. But did she hear his “I love you,” you ask? You just might find out!
Our only qualm about "Rise" is there’s not much in the ep in the way of comic relief except when Kevin Ryan uses the word “celebutante.” Do detectives really talk like that?
All in all, we were impressed!
