Castle Season 5 Casting: Ed Quinn to Play Nathan Fillion?

Remember when we told you about that upcoming sci-fi-themed episode this season on Castle? According to Entertainment Weekly, it'll be one big homage to Nathan Fillion's stint as Captain Mal Reynolds on the short-lived FOX series Firefly, which came to an end in 2003 after just one season.

ABC has recently cast the actor who'll play the main character — Captain Max Richards — on a Firefly-esque show called Nebula 9. EW reports that Eureka's Ed Quinn has been tapped for the role of Gabriel Winters, a jilted, out-of-work actor who goes off the deep end when Nebula is suddenly cancelled.

But Captain Max Richards and Nebula 9 aren't the only nods to Firefly. Castle and Beckett investigate a murder that takes place at a sci-fi fan fiction convention, so expect an hour's worth of wacky and witty Browncoat references.
